More than two years after it began its preparations, Adamson University has been awarded the prestigious ISO 9001:2008 Management Systems certification by TÜV Rheinland.
The ISO 9001:2008 certification means that the quality of the university’s processes and standards are at par with international management systems. It also means that the university has instituted quality assurance methods in both the academic and support services and has built procedures for its maintenance. In formalizing and maintaining its quality assurance methods, students, parents and other customers of Adamson University can be assured that teaching quality remains at its best and that transactions are done efficiently.
The certification was formally issued to Adamson on January 18, 2013 and will be valid until January 17, 2016. Its scope includes the provision of academic (basic, tertiary, graduate) and support services. The certificate was formally presented to University President Fr. Gregorio Bañaga, Jr., CM by Mr. Tristan Arwen Loveres, Chief Operating Officer of TÜV Rheinland, during the celebration of the 29th Institutional Awards on February 15 at the Adamson University Theater.
The process for certification started in July 2010 with a series of meetings and preparations, and culminated in the university-wide audit conducted by TÜV Rheinland last December 4, 2012. The project was divided into eight phases originally set to take place in one year, the last being the actual certification. The Institutional Planning and Policy Development Office, under the Office of the President, lead in the task of seeing the certification come through.
A series of periodical audits will be conducted yearly until 2016, when the university will be subjected to another thorough audit in order to gain re-certification. The deadline for all future audits will be December 4.
Adamson’s achievement of the ISO 9001:2008 certification strengthens its vision and promise to provide education and service of high quality that can be assured and maintained throughout. This achievement, along with its autonomous status and IQuAME certification, is a testament to Adamson University’s desire to continually push itself forward and distinguish itself as one of the top universities in the country.
