With the win, the Lady Falcons now rule over the tournament standings with a 4-0 slate to end the first round.

Pitcher Glory Alonzo served the final blow of the match in an unexpected appearance on the batter’s box, sending the ball to the right for a walk-off hit that allowed Alaiza Talisik to push home and trigger the mercy rule.

Adamson scored one run each from the second to fourth innings, but it was in the fifth when they broke the floodgates and widened the gap, 6-0, scoring three off big hits from rookie Jhaycel Roldan and Roma Cruz.

Head coach Ana Santiago noted the team’s improving offense and credited the players for staying committed to their game plan, emphasizing the importance of keeping their momentum intact while avoiding unnecessary pressure as they enter the second round.

Adamson’s defense was anchored by third-year pitcher April Minanga, who allowed just two baserunners throughout the game. De La Salle’s only hit came from Cassandra Inot in the first at-bat, while Tiffany Labargan reached base later but was left stranded.

The San Marcelino-based squad opened the season with a 7-0 win over University of Santo Tomas in six frames followed by an 8-0 rout of Ateneo de Manila University in five innings,. They then needed only six innings to secure a commanding 12-4 victory before closing the round.

Second round games are expected to begin this March 15.
