CAO marks 150th Birth Anniversary of Gregoria de Jesus with Tagubilin exhibit

The Cultural Affairs Office, in partnership with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), commemorated the 150th birth anniversary of Gregoria de Jesusthrough the opening of the exhibit “Tagubilin: The Life Lessons of Gregoria de Jesus” on May 6 at the Adamson University Art Gallery.

The exhibit highlights the life, values and enduring legacy of Gregoria de Jesus, also known as Lakambini of the Katipunan. She is a revolutionary figure known for her courage, leadership and devotion to the cause of Philippine independence.
Through photographs, historical documents and interpretive displays, the exhibit invites viewers to reflect on her contributions not only as the wife of Andres Bonifacio but as a nationalist and leader in her own right.
Guests were also treated to a preview of the trailer of the film Lakambini, which showcases the life of Gregoria de Jesus.
The ceremony was graced by Ms. Rhia Tapales and Ms. Cynthia Nakpil, descendants of Gregoria de Jesus, who shared insights on her life and significance to Filipino heritage.
College of Liberal Arts Dean Dr. Gliceria Lunag delivered the opening remarks, while NHCP Executive Director Carminda Arevalo gave a exhibit overview.
As a Catholic and Vincentian institution committed to truth, service and national development, Adamson University continues to support initiatives that promote historical awareness and patriotism among its students and the wider community.
The exhibit stands as a tribute to the strength of women in history and the importance of remembering the lives that helped shape the nation. It will be open to the public and will run throughout the month of May and will close on June 6.
