Adamson University’s College of Computer and Information Technology (CCIT) has set a historic precedent by becoming the first academic institution in the Philippines to officially complete the Google AI Essentials Program, an initiative led by the IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP).
This milestone, achieved in February 2025, highlights CCIT’s strong commitment to future-proof education and professional development. Every faculty and staff member of the college underwent the comprehensive training program, reinforcing the institution’s forward-looking vision for industry-aligned and ethically grounded technology instruction.

The achievement echoes the words of Adamson University President, Fr. Daniel Franklin Pilario, CM, who emphasized during the inauguration of CCIT in September 2024, saying, “Our students are digital natives. If we teachers do not adapt to this digital world, we will be left behind.”
Offered through a strategic partnership between IBPAP and Google, the AI Essentials Program introduces participants to foundational AI concepts, including responsible use of generative tools, effective prompting techniques, and strategies to stay agile in a fast-evolving tech landscape.
Dean Leonard Luis Alejandro expressed pride in the college’s commitment to staying ahead of technological developments.
“Faculty members in the college actively engage in continuous learning through relevant courses, training, and certifications to ensure they are well-equipped with the latest industry knowledge,” he said.
“As a result, students benefit from the most up-to-date technical expertise and skills, preparing them for real-world opportunities.”
This initiative is also a direct realization of CCIT’s strategic roadmap, known as FRIENDSHIP, which stands for: Faculty Fellows, Refining Specialist Curriculum, Internationalization and Inclusivity, Employment Prior to Graduation Program, Network of Alumni, Dedicated Expert Membership or Mentorship, Strengthen Industry Linkages, Hackathons, Animation and Esports, International and Local Competitions, and Proactive Technology Adoption.
Among these, the Faculty Fellows program was central to the college’s decision to pursue the Google AI certification.
“When I first learned about this opportunity at a conference, I immediately thought it would be beneficial for all our faculty members to participate,” Dr. Alejandro recalled.
“Not only would it serve as a great way to motivate our faculty, but the lessons and resources provided can also be integrated into our curriculum. It enhances faculty development while enriching student learning.”
Though the training program has concluded, CCIT is already preparing for further collaboration with IBPAP. Planned future tracks include advanced career development and faculty immersion programs, aligning with the college’s long-term vision of producing globally competitive graduates.
“CCIT has more than 15 technology partners, and yes, we are maximizing those partnerships,” Dr. Alejandro added. “In our recent CCIT-RISE event, all four invited speakers came from our partner organizations.”
Through initiatives like these, Adamson University remains steadfast in its mission to cultivate socially responsible, technically competent, and values-driven professionals. CCIT stands as a testament to that mission—proactively bridging education and innovation to empower learners in the digital age. Hannah Leonardo/ Komunikator
