Library Services Director Mrs. Judeelyn “Judee” Bundoc has quietly but consistently contributed to the way Adamson University engages with knowledge, learning and academic discovery for over two decades. As a librarian for 22 years -- and Director of Library Services for the past seven -- she has dedicated herself to ensuring that the university library remains a space of support, curiosity, and lifelong learning.
He
r entry into librarianship was not something she had always planned. With a degree in education and a specialization in librarianship, Mrs. Bundoc initially sought a quiet work environment. “There were always those notions that librarians just sit and lend books,” she shared. “But once I began studying it, I realized how demanding the work really is.”
Beyond managing collections, she discovered that the role demanded constant growth, service, and adaptability. “What you learn at the university is just knowledge,” she said.
“The real skills are developed in the field -- where you have to adapt to changing needs and be flexible,” -- words that proved true after her promotion to Director of Library Services marked a significant transition for her -- one that brought both responsibility and vision.
“Before, you’re just part of the success,” she reflected. “Now, you’re leading it.” As the university’s first in-house library director -- a position made possible despite the limited availability of library specialization programs -- she brought not only expertise but a collaborative spirit to the office.
“It was scary at first,” she admitted. “The responsibilities were heavy, and I was still gaining experience. But the administrators were supportive, and I learned to face challenges with consultation and confidence.”
Today, she leads a team of over 30 staff members and 10 student assistants, guiding them with the belief that leadership is service.
“I always tell myself: be a leader, not a boss,” she said.
Such belief now finds its most visible expression in a long-anticipated project. After years of proposals and planning, the university is building a new three-floor library in the Cardinal Santos Annex Building --an expansion that reflects the evolving needs of the Adamson community and the steadfast advocacy of Mrs. Bundoc and her team.
“We’re very thankful to the administrators,” she said. “It took years of proposals and discussions, but finally, we’ve been given the space to bring this vision to life.”
Expected to be completed in two to three years, the new library will feature cyberzones, a mini theater, discussion and collaboration rooms, leisure areas, and nap spaces. The goal is to create not only a modern and inclusive academic hub but also a space that supports wellness and creativity, providing students and faculty with an environment conducive to both focused study and meaningful rest.
Mrs. Bundoc, meanwhile, envisions the new library as a center that continues to support curriculum needs, strengthen outreach, enhance research, and foster partnerships beyond borders.
“I hope more people will come to value learning as I do,” she said. "I hope they find in the library a place where they can grow -- not just in knowledge, but in purpose.”
With dedication, humility, and a clear vision, Mrs. Bundoc continues to contribute to Adamson University’s journey -- empowering minds one page, one space and one story at a time.
