Nitura makes UAAP history anew despite narrow loss to La Salle

Shaina Nitura continues to rewrite UAAP history in her rookie season, shattering the all-time scoring record across the seniors divisions of UAAP volleyball during the Lady Falcons’ five-set battle against powerhouse De La Salle University, where the they came close to a stunning upset before falling, 19-25, 25-21, 25-22, 18-25, 4-15, yesterday, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

The newly minted phenom’s 35-point explosion pushed her season total to 349 points, surpassing the long-standing mark of 344 set by UST’s Mark Alfafara in Season 76.
Nitura, already leading the league in scoring, also delivered her sixth 30-point performance this season more than any player in a single UAAP campaign across both the men's and women's divisions.
The Lady Falcons fought valiantly, even taking a 2-1 set lead before La Salle rallied behind Angel Canino, Shevana Laput, and Amie Provido to dominate the final two sets and keep their Final Four momentum alive.
Frances Mordi added 13 points for Adamson, while also leading their floor defense.
Now at 5-8, Adamson looks to close out its season strong against the University of the Philippines on Saturday, April 26, at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
