Adamson University’s Men’s Volleyball Team showed grit and resilience in their second-to-the-last match of UAAP 87, putting up a strong fight before falling to Final Four contender De La Salle University, 20-25, 25-27, 26-24, 17-25, Wednesday, April 23, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Already out of Final Four contention, the Soaring Falcons made sure to leave their mark, staging a gutsy third-set comeback to extend the match.

Down by three and facing match point, Adamson strung together key plays highlighted by a crosscourt hit from John Gay, an off-the-block attack by Jude Aguilar, and a service ace from RJ Obeda to steal the set and force a fourth.

Jude Aguilar led Adamson with 17 points built on 16 attacks, while Dan Gutierrez followed closely with 16 points and 10 excellent receptions. Supporting them were Paulino with nine markers and six receptions, and Leo Coguimbal who added eight markers, including four blocks.

Although La Salle regained control in the fourth set, the Falcons held a brief lead before being overtaken by the Green Spikers’ decisive 10-3 run. Still, the Falcons’ performance reflected a squad playing with pride, discipline, and hunger for growth.

Now holding a 2-11 record, Adamson eyes a strong finish as they close out the season against the University of the Philippines on Saturday at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
