What could have been a stunning late-game comeback for the Falcon batters was cut short after its UAAP 87 Baseball Tournament clash against the University of the Philippines was suspended due to darkness on Sunday, March 23, at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.

Trailing 6-14 entering the ninth inning, the Soaring Falcons unleashed an explosive 10-run surge to erect a 16-14 lead, flipping the script in dramatic fashion.
However, with UP set to bat in the bottom of the ninth, the game was halted as the stadium lacked proper lighting to continue play.

The Fighting Maroons had built what seemed to be an insurmountable eight-run advantage across the first eight innings, fueled by a six-run fourth inning, but the San Marcelino-based batters refused to go down quietly, stringing together a furious rally to seize the momentum—only for the match to be stopped before they could officially complete the comeback.
Both teams currently hold identical 1-2 records, trailing behind league leaders National University (4-0) and De La Salle University (3-1).
According to reports, the suspended game will only be resumed if its outcome affects the standings or playoff race, with UP set to start the inning at bat should play continue.

Earlier in the day, NU remained unbeaten with a 14-6 rout of Ateneo de Manila University, while La Salle outlasted the University of Santo Tomas, 8-6, in 10 innings to take solo second in the standings. Both UST and Ateneo now sit at 1-3.
