College of Pharmacy hosts PPhA National Pharmacy Week 2024 opening

The University hosted the opening ceremonies of the Philippine Pharmacists Association Inc. (PPhA) National Pharmacy Week 2024 at the Co Po Ty Hall on December 9, bringing together future pharmacists, healthcare professionals, and key figures in the field of pharmacy. the event aimed to inspire and equip the next wave of leaders in the pharmacy profession.

The event themed "Empowering the Next Generation Filipino Pharmacists," began with a Thanksgiving Mass, officiated by Fr. Nelson Bisco, CM, Director of the Campus Ministry Office, setting a reflective and spiritual tone for the day.

University President Fr. Daniel Franklin Pilario, CM, delivered the welcome remarks, emphasizing the importance of education and service in shaping the future of the pharmacy profession.

Prof. Aleth Therese Dacanay gave the opening remarks, preparing the participants for the day's insightful discussions and activities. A highlight of the afternoon was the fireside chat session, featuring esteemed speakers from various sectors of pharmacy.

The talking session included Stephen Rae Fontanilla, Clinical Pharmacist at Southern Isabela Medical Center; Lance Frederick Dusaban, Regional Regulatory Affairs Senior Associate at Merck Inc.; AdU alum Katrina Loretizo, who recently ranked Top 5 in the November 2024 Pharmacist Licensure Exams; and Louise Apuli and Joshua Demegillo, national officers of the Federation of Junior Chapters of PPhA.

The event also marked the official launching of the PPhA National Convention 2025, led by Jingle Diola and Mark Ryan Langit, who shared their exciting plans for next year’s gathering.

The closing remarks were delivered by Ma. Gilda Sebua-Saljay, Chairperson of the National and Special Events, and former PPhA President, who expressed her gratitude to the participants and emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in advancing the profession.
