Newly licensed Falcon Geologists Carls Angcaya, Ray Emmanuel Diaz, and Britt Gajardo proudly represented Adamson University at GeoCon 2024, presenting their undergraduate theses in the prestigious poster presentation segment of the conference, December 4.
Angcaya’s research, Estimation of the Geologic Potential of the Barite Deposit in Brgy. Cabalwa, Mansalay, Oriental Mindoro using Contour Method, explores the mineral potential of barite deposits in the region. The study provides valuable insights into mineral resource estimation using innovative contouring techniques, contributing to sustainable resource management and economic development.
Meanwhile, Diaz showcased his thesis, Earthquake and Volcanogenic-Hazard Risk Assessment and Tsunami Impact Assessment of Barangays Malinis and Nonong Casto, Lemery, Batangas. His work offers critical data on natural disaster risks, particularly earthquake and tsunami hazards, equipping local communities and policymakers with tools to enhance disaster preparedness and mitigation strategies.
Gajardo presented his thesis, Sulfur Analysis of Volcanic Rocks in Mt. Mariveles, Bataan, Philippines, which delves into the geochemical properties of volcanic rocks in the area. His research contributes to understanding sulfur content's implications on volcanic activity and environmental factors, aiding geologists and researchers in volcanic hazard analysis.
