Adamson’s Lady Baby Falcons remain determined to defend their crown in the UAAP Girls’ Volleyball Tournament despite falling to National University-Nazareth School (NUNS) in Game 1 of the Season 87 Finals, 25-16, 25-21, 25-13, December 4 at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion.
The team, who claimed last season's title after a thrilling finals series against NUNS, now face a do-or-die Game 2 on December 7.
Adamson displayed moments of brilliance, particularly in the final set when they fought off three match points behind the efforts of Sam Cantada and setter Pia Arasan.
Despite the loss, the Lady Baby Falcons had notable performances from several players. Abby Segui led the scoring with 10 points, followed by Ellaine Gonzalvo with nine. Arasan contributed 12 excellent sets, keeping Adamson's offense alive against the relentless Lady Bullpups.
The defending champions, however, struggled with unforced errors and rhythm throughout the match, challenges they aim to address in Game 2.
“We need to focus on reducing our errors and staying consistent throughout the game,” said Carreon. “This team has the heart of a champion, and we’ll prove that in the next match.”
Game 2 is scheduled for 11AM on December 7 at the same venue.
