Adamson’s Baby Falcons fell short of posting back-to-back victories after yielding to second-seeded Far Eastern University-Diliman, 84-96, in the UAAP 87 Junior High School Basketball Tournament, November 10 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.
Fresh off a morale-boosting win against Ateneo de Manila University, Adamson went toe-to-toe with the Baby Tamaraws, ending the first quarter only down by seven, 20-27.
However, FEU-D pulled away in the second frame to erect a 21-point gap at halftime.
The Baby Falcons tried to overhaul the game in the second half as Aurelio Fransman continued his stellar play, unleashing a personal 9-0 run along with two freebies from Prince Banate to go within nine points, 60-69. FEU-D, however, was able to counter and rebuild their lead to 18, 60-78, leading to the final frame.
The Alex Barrera-mentored squad then uncorked one final gasp with a 22-6 bomb, which eventually fell short in the endgame.
Chrys Gomez top-scored for the Baby Falcons with 19 points, six assists, two steals, and one rebound, while Fransman tallied 15 points, five assists, three rebounds, and two steals.
Craig Fongtong remained a consistent presence in the middle with a near-double-double, 14 points and nine rebounds, to go along with four assists and two blocks, while Jenhuar Tiamzon registered his breakout game with 14 points, four assists, and three rebounds.
Adamson will return to the court against University of the East on November 17 at the same Cubao coliseum.
