The Philippine National Baseball Team has made history by securing their fifth consecutive championship title at the BFA (Baseball Federation of Asia) XIV East Asia Baseball Cup, held at the Clark Sports Complex in Pampanga from October 29 to November 3.

The team, bannered by seven former Soaring Falcons, faced Hong Kong in the final match on November 3, capping off a dominant undefeated tournament run. This victory also grants the Filipino batters a ticket to the Asian Baseball Championship scheduled for next year.

With the Philippines holding a 4-2 lead at the bottom of the eighth inning, John Vargas and Harper Sy scored two crucial runs, providing the team with some much-needed breathing room.

The momentum continued as former Adamson batter Mark Steven Manaig hit a pivotal home run into deep left field, sending him, Mark Beronilla, and Jennald Pareja across home plate and further extending the lead.

With the championship on the line, tournament MVP Romeo Jasmin Jr. took the mound in the ninth inning. Jasmin was recognized as one of AdU’s ten greatest players and was inducted into the University’s Wall of Greats in 2017.

Jasmin was also a member of the Falcons’ three-peat champion team, a two-time season MVP and Best pitcher in the UAAP.

This year’s roster also featured former Falcons Erwin Bosito, John Leonel Matanguihan, Raymond Nerosa, and Kyle Villafana.
