Adamson University’s Lady Baby Falcons fought valiantly against the National University Nazareth School (NUNS) Lady Bullpups in the UAAP Season 87 High School Girls’ Volleyball Tournament but ultimately fell short, 21-25, 17-25, 25-21, 17-25, on Sunday at Paco Arena in Manila.
Despite the setback, Adamson remains firmly in the top four, holding a 5-3 record in the season standings.
The Lady Baby Falcons showed their mettle, rallying to claim the third set and aiming to disrupt NUNS’s momentum. Sam Cantada led the way with 15 points, while Lhouriz Tuddao and Janessa Buhay added 10 points each.
Unfortunately, Buhay had to exit the match due to an injury after a hard landing during a 13-all tie in the second set, a loss that required the Falcons to adjust on the fly against the formidable Bullpups.
In the fourth set, Adamson fought to close the gap but couldn’t recover after NUNS pulled ahead with a decisive four-point run, including two aces from Lyza Dela Peña.
Though Cantada made a late push, an Adamson service error brought the Lady Bullpups to match point, which they converted to secure the win.
Despite the result, the Lady Baby Falcons’ position in the top four remains strong, and they’ll look to regroup and make strategic adjustments as they push deeper into the tournament.
Adamson’s resilience and competitive spirit continue to keep them within reach of the season’s leaders, setting up an exciting race as they move closer to the playoffs.
