The Baby Falcons faced a formidable opponent in the Far Eastern University-Diliman (FEU-D) Lady Baby Tamaraws during Round 3 of the UAAP Season 87 High School Chess Tournaments on Saturday, suffering a 3-1 defeat at the Adamson Gym, October 19.
Despite the loss, the Falcons demonstrated resilience and determination. The highlight of the match came from Ma. Christina Samarita, who managed to secure a vital victory on Board 4 against FEU-D's Lyn Getubig. With the win, Samarita prevented a complete shutout for Adamson.
However, the competition proved challenging for the rest of the team. On Board 1, Mikhaela Salvo struggled against a tough opponent and was unable to score, while Lira Placer and Florence Isabedra each had one win between them, falling short against the formidable lineup of the Lady Baby Tamaraws.
Adamson now find themselves needing to regroup and strategize for the upcoming rounds. The standings reflect a competitive field, with Adamson currently sitting with 5 total points alongside UST, trailing behind the leaders, FEU-D.
In the boys' division, the Baby Falcon Woodpushers are also in pursuit of stronger performances, looking to leverage their potential in the upcoming matches.
Adamson’s Boys’ Chess Team currently sits at fourth , behind FEU-D, Ateneo, and UST.
