The Falcon Shuttlers opened their respective campaigns in the UAAP 87 Badminton Tournament on the wrong foot after absorbing tough blows in the hands of reigning champions, Ateneo de Manila University, on October 12 at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex Badminton Hall in Manila.

Camille Buagas and Graziel Cabriga paired up to take control over the feisty duo from Katipunan and ran away with the first set at 21-14. However, Althea Fuentesoi and Missy Cervantes found their groove and responded with a win.

The ladies from San Marcelino quickly proved their sharpness in the last stretch to snatch the victory, 2-1, and delivered the solace of the match for Adamson despite succumbing to Ateneo at 1-4.

On the men’s side, the Falcons showcased persistence and resilience to catch up with their foes, but the Katipunan-based shuttlers proved tough to display prime fuel, commanding a 0-5 sweep.

The San Marcelino-based shuttlers will aim for redemption as they get to grips with the University of Santo Tomas tomorrow at the same hall.
