The Lady Falcons succumbed to a late run and fell in a tightly-contested showdown against Far Eastern University, 64-67, to open their UAAP 87 Women's Basketball second-round campaign on October 12 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Ryan Monteclaro-mentored crew seemed to find its groove early on, keeping up with the pace as Elaine Etang, who steered her side with 16 points, showed the way for the Falcons.
The third canto was a thriller game as both crews saw a nip-and-tuck affair playing catch up with a tightened defense. The Lady Tamaraws held on until the final stretch, with Erica Lopez’s massive performance from behind the arc lifting her side.
Kemi Adeshina’s floater in the last 15 seconds was a desperate attempt to draw level with scores at 64-66. But she missed draining the chance, resulting in the hard-fought game to cap off for the Morayta-based crew.
Cheska Apag also had a monumental presence for her team throughout the match, posting 14 points and four steals.
The Lady Falcons will aim for redemption next weekend, October 19, when they take on De La Salle University at the University of Santo Tomas Quadricentennial Pavilion in Espana.
