Vincentian spirit kindled at the Adamson University Theater as the Cultural Affairs Office (CAO), in partnership with the Philippine Stagers Foundation, hosted the annual staging of San Vicente: Isang Sarsuela, September 25 and 26..

This year’s showing of the Atty. Vince Tañada production dedicated to the university’s patron saint, St. Vincent de Paul, captivated audiences with its vibrant storytelling and heartfelt performances over five shows.

The annual event, which began in 2005, has become a cherished tradition at Adamson University, commemorating the Feast Day of St. Vincent de Paul.

Attendees were treated to a unique blend of music, drama, and humor that not only entertained but also educated them about the life and legacy of the beloved saint.

Fr. Rafael K. Eloriaga, CM, Vice President for Financial Affairs and Acting President of Adamson University, welcomed the audience during the last installment of the play for this year.

In his speech, he emphasized the timelessness of the sarswela, inviting everyone to appreciate this cultural art form.

“This sarswela is a way for us to see Saint Vincent. It’s a storytelling method that combines music and impromptu dialogue,” he noted, highlighting the production's engaging and educational aspects.

“His inspiring story has been a cornerstone of our mission and values at Adamson University,” he said, encouraging the audience to let the performance inspire them to assist those in need.

Vice President for Student Affairs also delivered a short address, reflecting on the play and giving thanks to the attendees and everyone who supported the event.

Among those who were present during the play’s stagings were different members of the Vincentian-Adamsonian community, including students and faculty members of AdU’s respective academic units.

University officials who shared their time and spoke during other stagings include Fr. Biju Elukennel, CM, University Chaplain; Sr. Vilma Aquino, Director of Institute for Religious Education; and Fr. Rowen Carlos, CM, Director of Integrated Community Extension Services.

The enthusiastic response from the audience and the positive feedback from participants reflected the significance of this annual tradition. As the curtains closed on another successful staging, the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul continued to resonate within the Adamson community, inspiring all to uphold the values of compassion and service.

With the successful execution of San Vicente: Isang Sarsuela, the Adamson University community looks forward to future performances that celebrate their rich heritage and the enduring legacy of St. Vincent de Paul.
