The Baby Falcons keep their hopes high to turn their fortunes around despite falling to gritty National University-Nazareth School Bullpups, 62-73, in the UAAP 87 Junior High School Boys Basketball Tournament, September 25 at the Adamson Gym.

Despite having no win on their slate yet, head coach Alex Barerra reassured that his squad is putting in extra efforts to improve teamwork and uplift players in every step of the process.

“Nandon naman kami every game, the problem is ang chance namin sa dulo is medyo lumiliit because aminin ko man is late nabuo ang team, hindi pa sila gano’n magkakilala pero I’ll try my best, our coaching staff, to get better every practice, every game na natututo yung mga bata,” he assured.

Adamson struggled early and had to play catch up beginning from the first frame with NU-Nazareth’s defensive schemes limiting the Baby Falcons to only 10 points.

Coach Barrera emphasized that the team still needs to develop initiatives to take charge inside the court, weathering each others’ tendencies to play the game out of their own rhythm.

“Kasi sabihin ko man na mahina yung kalaban, malakas, na kaya namin talunin, pero at the end of the game is, iba yung nararamdaman ng bata. Hindi pa nila kayang i-take charge yung sarili nila na ‘ako yung leader’. Wala pa akong nakikitang ganyan sa team namin,” he added.

The Baby Falcons were able to adjust their offense in the final stretch with Edison Jordan and Keefe Iledan’s combined efforts leaidng them to an 18-point fourth quarter, but it was still not enough to catch up with their Jhocson-based foes.

“Yun ang lagi kong sinasabi, huwag kayong sumuko [dahil] baka sa dulo, iba yung result na matanggap natin. Mamaya panalo na pala na tayo, hindi natin alam yung score. Kasi we're enjoying the game,” shared the former Soaring Falcons power forward.

Edison Jordan steered Adamson with 15 points, 3 assists, and 1 steal, while Iledan added 14 markers.

The San Marcelino-based team will try to find its way to the win column as they face the University of the Philippines Integrated School on September 28 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
