Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy students Desiree Nicole Esteve, Lea Vanessa Jaro, Mikaela Mae Suasin, and Mikhaela Camille Tanael, together with their faculty co-researchers Ms. April Mergelle Lapuz, Dr. Rogie Royce Carandang, and Dr. Kevin Jace Miranda, have achieved a recently published their research paper titled “Preformulation Studies of an Emulsion Containing Commercially Available Argan Oil.”

The study published under Volume 17 of SciEnggJ of the Philippine-American Academy of Science & Engineering (PAASE) delves into the formulation and potential benefits of argan oil emulsions, contributing valuable insights to the field of pharmaceutical sciences.
“This research aimed to develop an efficient pre-formulation strategy for oil-in-water emulsion containing argan oil and optimize the formulation's optimum stability as a pharmaceutical dosage form,” the authors wrote about their study that highlighted keywords such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, argan oil, argania spinosa, emulsion, stability.
According to its website, PAASE is “a non-profit organization composed of scientists and engineers of Philippine descent who have distinguished themselves in scholarly and research related activities.”
“The challenges involved in significantly raising the economic welfare and well-being of Filipinos are daunting. But recognizing that the value of science is ultimately measured by its impact on society, it is crucial for us to commit to extend the fruits of science and technology to benefit our people through education, information dissemination, entrepreneurial activity, and commercialization. A high-level and expansive perspective is required to establish the value chain from basic to applied science, for the benefit of society,” the organization furthered in their “About Us” section.
