Adamson fired blanks in the first installment of the Battle of the Birds of Prey in the UAAP 87 Men’s Basketball Tournament, dropping a 51-60 wire-to-wire defeat against Ateneo de Manila University on September 21 at the SMART Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.

The Falcons fell into an early hole, ending the first frame 6-17. They then tried to mount comeback after comeback, but the Ateneo offense kept finding loopholes in their defense, even extending their lead to as high as 16 points.
AdU launched one final run to try and steal the victory but eventually fell short.
The San Marcelino crew did not convert on a three-pointer the whole game despite having 17 attempts, compared to Ateneo’s nine of 31 clip, leading to a 33-8 gap in perimeter points.
Although they outrebounded their foes 46-35, AdU committed an uncharacteristic 18 turnovers.
Cedrick Manzano was the lone double-digit scorer for Adamson with 14 points, seven rebounds, two assists and one block. Joshua Yerro and Eli Ramos both added six, respectively.
The Nash Racela-mentored squad will return to the floor on September 25 at the same venue against slumping National University.
