The Baby Falcons were quickly overwhelmed by their opponents. UST quickly built a 15-point first-quarter lead, 14-29, before settling for a 30-46 gap come halftime.
Timely three-point hits and drives to the basket from Chrys Gomez, Keefe Iledan, and Aurelio Fransman cut the UST lead to nine with less than five minutes left.
However, Tiger Cubs’ top scorer, Jhon Canapi, who broke the league's scoring record in his previous outing, had other plans as he appeared to have answers every time Adamson tried to mount a comeback, pocketing three triples in the third before leading his time to a total takeover in the final canto.
The San Marcelino squad showed its grit, outrebounding its foes 54-46, with a 20-5 gap in offensive boards. However, they were out-assisted 14-27.
Adamson also converted only three baskets from beyond the arc compared to UST’s 11 and scored on just 16 of their 39 free throws.
Gomez topped the scoring for the Baby Falcons with 16 points, while Craig Fongtong tallied 13 markers and 16 rebounds.
Iledan and Dan Damian, meanwhile, posted 11 and 10 markers, respectively. Fransman also had seven, which he all fired in the third frame.
