The Soaring Falcons faced their first hiccup in their UAAP 87 Men's Basketball campaign after succumbing to reigning champions, De La Salle University, 52-82, today, at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
Adamson, fresh off a big win over Far Eastern University last Sunday, appeared shellshocked against UAAP 86 Most Valuable Player Kevin Quiambao as the La Salle forward tallied 21 points, five rebounds and four assists while leading his team to their second victory.
Quiambao powered the Archers in the first quarter, leading the Taft-based squad to a 20-6 start despite both teams having slow starts.
Adamson failed to recover, shooting 29.5% from the field for the whole game, against their foes’ 42.5%.
The Soaring Falcons, though, showed flashes of brilliance including a facial that foreign student athlete OJ Ojarikre delivered over Quiambao to open the first quarter, and a post-move masterclass from Cedrick Manzano.
Manzano tallied 15 points and eight rebounds, while Mathew Montebon and Manu Anabo added seven apiece for the San Marcelino crew who went down to a 1-1 record.
They will try to bounce back against the streaking UST Growling Tigers this September 15 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
