In celebration of Vincentian Month, Adamson University unveiled a poignant exhibit titled "In the Footsteps of St. Vincent de Paul" at the Adamson Univeersity Art Gallery on September 10.
The showcase, presented by the Office for Vincentian Identity and Mission (OVIM) and Cultural Affairs Office (CAO), features a remarkable collection of photographs by former Adamson University Presidents Fr. Marcelo V. Manimtim, CM, and Fr. Gregorio L. Bañaga, Jr. CM.
The images capture key moments and places from the life and mission of St. Vincent de Paul that Fr. Manimtim and Fr. Bañaga took during their respective journeys to the University Patron Saint’s home in France in 2008 to 2012.
CAO Director Ms. Catherine Cequena delivered the welcome remarks during the opening of the exhibit.
The photos that adorned the walls of the gallery serves as a visual journey through St. Vincent's life, from his birthplace in Les Berceaux to his various ministries across his native country.
Dr. Pamela Mantuhac, OVIM Director, shared insights into the significance of the exhibit.
"We are not just Adamsonians; we are Vincentians. When we graduate, we are recognized as Vincentian engineers, Vincentian architects, and so on. But how much do we really know about St. Vincent de Paul?"
The exhibit features a detailed map of St. Vincent’s birthplace and various significant locations, including his early parish assignments and notable ministries.
One of the highlights is a display of the incorrupt heart of St. Vincent, which has been preserved and is housed in the chapel of the Daughters of Charity.
"The exhibit is not just a display of photographs; it’s an invitation to trace the footsteps of our patron saint and reflect on his enduring legacy. Our goal is to inspire visitors to not only follow in St. Vincent's footsteps but to live out his virtues and continue his mission," Dr. Mantuhac added.
The exhibit will be open to the public throughout September, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the rich history and mission of St. Vincent de Paul.
