Vice President for Student Affairs and Office for Athletic Development Director Fr. Aldrin Suan, CM, has been appointed chairperson of the negotiating panel for the construction of the new University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) coliseum in Pasig City, a significant milestone in the league's history.

The UAAP and Akari Lighting and Technology Corporation partnership was formalized earlier today at the Atencio-Libunao Hall, UP-Diliman. This marks the beginning of the project, dubbed "Home of the UAAP," which will serve as a central hub for the league’s events.

Fr. Suan's leadership in this crucial role highlights the University's active participation in shaping the future of collegiate sports in the country.

The selection of an Adamsonian administrator to spearhead the negotiations underscores the trust and confidence the UAAP Board of Trustees and Managing Directors have in the university's commitment to athletic excellence.

The project spans nearly two hectares and will feature a 6,000-seat arena that will become a hub for competitions of the near-grand-old league.

Negotiations between Akari and the UAAP began in March 2023, and the concept design was unveiled by ASYA Design Partner.

Construction of the arena is expected to begin soon. It is targeted for completion within three years, aligning with the start of UAAP Season 89.
