The College of Pharmacy (CoP) continues its efforts to advance pharmaceutical studies at the University and in the country.

CoP brought together experts in the pharmaceutical field as the college hosted the 2nd International Conference on Pharmaceutical Sciences and Global Health (ICPSGH) on July 20 at the Co Po Ty Audiovisual Hall at Adamson University's CTIR Building.

Participants shared valuable insights on the latest trends and innovations in healthcare services, with a distinguished lineup of speakers from around the globe, and the recent trends in the field of practice, including:

  • - Mr. Jay Chong Jin Jian from WellAway E-Pharmacy, Singapore (E-Pharmacy in the Digital Era: Evolving Practices and Upcoming Trends)

  • - Dr. Thitima Doungngern of Prince of Songkla University, Thailand (Design Thinking in Pharmacy Practice for Improving the Care of Trauma Patients)

  • - Dr. Francis Capule from the University of the Philippines, Manila (The Role of Next Generation Pharmacists in Precision Medicine)

  • - Dr. Chaowalit Monton of Rangit University, Thailand (Integrating Design of Experiments: Approach in Professional Practice Training Programs for Pharmacy Students in Industrial Pharmacy)

  • - Dr. Rer. Nat. RuAngelie Edrada-Edel from Strathclyde University, United Kingdom (Secondary Metabolomics as an AI Tool to Define Biomarkers of Biological Activity and Yield Optimization)

  • - Dr. Prof. Paul W.S. Heng of the National University of Singapore (Understanding the Role of Excipients on Product Stability)

  • - Dr. Ryan Pekson from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, USA (Innovations through Understanding Mitochondrial-Mediated Cell Death Processes)

The collaboration among the said experts and institutions aimed to advance sustainable and accessible healthcare services, delving into innovative pharmacy practices and their integration to enhance interdisciplinary collaboration among academicians, researchers, and practitioners.

Coinciding with the conference is CoP’s celebration of its 77th Founding Anniversary, during which the college inaugurated its new Manufacturing Pharmacy Laboratory. The unveiling was also held on the same afternoon on the ST Building's ground floor.

The state-of-the-art laboratory, compliant with the Food and Drug Administration’s Current Good Manufacturing Practice (FDA-cGMP) requirements, has a new Bilayer Tablet Press featuring 15 stations and an advanced air handling unit (AHU).

The new facility is expected to be crucial in advancing academic and industrial pharmaceutical research. It will provide students with practical experience in manufacturing and industrial techniques, support research in drug formulation, and foster innovation in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
