Falcons rules Agusan basketball tournament

The Soaring Falcons have added another trophy to the nest after winning the Mayor Kirk Asis Open Invitational Basketball Tournament in Agusan del Sur.
Adamson, representing ARQ Builders, avenged their elimination round defeat against the San Beda Red Lions, soaring past the NCAA titlists, 71-63, in the championship match held at the Lope Asis Memorial Gymnasium in Bayugan City, June 29.
Up-and-coming guard Mathew Montebon led Adamson with 19 points and was named the tournament’s Finals Most Valuable Player.
The victory is a significant improvement for the Falcons, who placed third in last year’s installment.
The feat also gave Adamson the tournament’s top prize worth P300,000.
