Adamson’s Baby Falcons, representing the Philippines, narrowly missed the championship of the 13th ASEAN Schools Games, falling to Indonesia 56-54 in the finals of the boys basketball event, in Vietnam last June 7.

Before reaching the finals, Adamson led by heady point guard Mark Esperanza and sharpshooter Earl Media secured a decisive victory against host Vietnam in the semifinals, winning 75-55.

The San Marcelino-based squad also secured victories over Laos, Thailand and Indonesia in the elimination round.

The competition, governed by an under-18 rule, saw Adamson competing with national teams of Thailand and Indonesia, who are expected to play in the upcoming Southeast Asia Basketball Association Tournament.

Adamson has also lost its championship core of Tebol Garcia, Vince Reyes, JC Bonzalida, and Gene Carillo—who have all moved on to playing for their respective collegiate teams.

The Adamson squad featured UAAP 86 team members Jarl Artango, Sam Baluyut, Jose Marie Tumabang, Jireh Tumaneng, Lucas Palacpac and Allen Perez, along with new additions Charls Caspe, Denrick Tambauan, Kobe Urbina, and Basti Villanueva.

The coaching staff included Head Coach Mike Fermin, along with Tatah Fermin, Alex Barrera, and Wilmon Yu.
