For the third consecutive year, students from the College of Science's Information Technology and Information Systems Department have secured the Best Paper Award in the Campus Sustainability category of the 8th Regional Conference for Campus Sustainability, held at Universiti Malaysia Sabah in Kota Kinabalu, April 24 to 26.

The award-winning project, titled "WigUP: Wigs for Undefeated Cancer Patients Using Augmented Reality," was presented by a team of dedicated students comprising Mary Grace Mayate, Jhustine Rhed Perez, Anna Louise Ramos, and Jose Mari Saturno. They were supported by faculty members Dr. Leonard Alejandro, IT&IS Chairperson Ms. Marvi Aresta-Bayrante, and Information Technology Center Director Ms. Ma. Carmela Racelis.

"WigUP" harnesses the power of augmented reality (AR) to support cancer patients by providing virtual wig fitting solutions. This innovation aims to enhance the quality of life for patients undergoing chemotherapy by offering a personalized, sustainable, and cost-effective way to explore different wig options. The project not only addresses a significant social issue but also integrates advanced technology to promote campus sustainability through digital solutions.

This recognition highlights the commitment to excellence in research and innovation within Adamson's Information Technology and Information Systems Department, consistently demonstrating leadership in integrating technology with socially relevant projects and contributing to the broader goals of campus sustainability and community support.
