Innovation was again abuzz at the campus as budding technopreneurs flocked to the University Theater for the Technopreneurship Summit 2024, May 6.
The event, which brings together visionaries in the field of technology innovation and commercialization, featured the theme "Fueling Tech Brilliance and Charting the Next Frontiers of Emerging Technologies."
Collaborative efforts of AdU’s Innovation and Technology Support Office, Adamson University Neo Science and Technology Support Office, Strategic and Collaborative Alliance for Leveraging the Ecosystem of Startups (SCALE) NCR, Department of Science and Technology Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD), and DOST-NCR led to the success of the said event.
Opening remarks by Dr. Venusmar Quevedo, Vice President for Administrative Affairs and Manager of the Intellectual Property Office (ITSO), and Fr. Daniel Franklin Pilario, CM officially kickstarted the event, delivering messages to inspire and set the stage for a day of exploration and inspiration in the realms of technology and entrepreneurship.
Distinguished speakers from the government and private sector graced the stage for Session 1, focused on discussing available assistance in engaging in startups.
The speakers include Engr. Edward Paul Apigo from DOST PCIEERD, Engr. Federico Gonzales of SCALE NCR, Ms. Karla Legaspi from QBO Innovation Hub, Dir. Emmy Lou Versoza-Delfin of DICT, and Dir. Romeleen Tresvalles, Regional Director of DOST NCR, who offered invaluable insights into the latest assistance programs for startups and beginning technopreneurs, as well opportunities they present for entrepreneurial endeavors.
A panel discussion moderated by Center for Research and Development Director Dr. Nuna Almanzor then facilitated engaging dialogue and exchange of ideas among the participants and the speakers.
Session 2, meanwhile, brought another lineup of speakers – tech visionaries -- who shared their insights and experiences they developed from their respective journeys in establishing their startup businesses.
Engr. Lance Brandon Pacio of Xeleqt Technology Innovations, Mr. Paul Soliman of HackTiv Colab Inc. & BayaniChain, and Mr. EL Bonuan, Founder of Xovox Labs told their challenges and successes in the world of technopreneurship, inspiring attendees with their stories of innovation and resilience.
The three speakers, through their experiences, agreed that more than half the tasks go to “showing up” and attempting to put up one’s own startup, also highlighting that passion and resilience are also big parts of the endeavor.
The subsequent panel discussion, moderated by Engineering Dean Dr. Merlinda Palencia, further delved into the intricacies of navigating the entrepreneurial landscape in the digital age.
As the summit drew to a close, Dr. Rosula Reyes, Vice President for Academic Affairs, delivered poignant closing remarks, underscoring the importance of collaboration and continued innovation in driving technopreneurship forward.
