HS teams bag twin bronze in UAAP 86 beach volleyball, 3x3 basketball

Adamson’s high school squads secured two bronze medals in their separate events of UAAP 86 held last May 5 in separate locations in Pasay City.
The sandy courts of SM Sands by the Bay witnessed intense clashes the Baby Lady Falcons composed of indoor volleyball MVP Shaina Nitura, Fey Sagaysay and Maegan Pineda dominated the NU Lady Bullpups, 21-17, 21-12, for a bronze medal in the Girls’ Beach Volleyball event.
On the boys' side, a fierce contest ultimately saw the Baby Falcons featuring Tommy Castrodes, Brandy Clemente and CJ Dominguito falling to University of Santo Tomas in a tightly contested 18-21, 21-13, 15-10 decider.
Meanwhile, over at Ayala Malls Manila Bay, the hardwood courts echoed with the sounds of squeaking sneakers and the swish of basketball nets as junior hoopsters battled for supremacy in the 3x3 basketball tournament.
The Baby Falcons annexed Adamson’s second bronze medal for the day after soaring over De La Salle Zobel, 15-13, after stellar performances from 5x5 Finals MVP Mark Esperanza, along with fellow champs Earl Medina, Zahir Sajili, Jose Marie Tumabang and Jay-ar Abayon.
It was, however, a different result in the girls’ division as Jean Mari Atillo, Arianna delos Santos, Johanna Overstreet, Alexa Paulina Ruiz and Rica Shaznie Triambulo finished in fourth place after falling to Zobel, 10-18.
Meanwhile, the women’s team of Elaine Etang, Chesca Apag, April Tano and Kat Agojo also fell to La Salle in their own bronze medal game, while the men’s team of Ray Allen Torres, Kenji Canete, Flever Dignadice, Allen Ignacio and Manu Anabo fell short from the final four despite a solid showing in the tournament which saw them down powerhouse UP.
