Karl Eldrew Yulo, a student from Adamson University's Basic Education Department and the younger brother of Filipino gymnastics sensation Carlos Yulo, proved that he can soar as high as his brother, clinching multiple medals at the prestigious Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships held in Cali, Colombia, April 26 to 28.
The younger Yulo's remarkable performance began with a dazzling display in the junior individual all-around competition, April 27, where he secured a silver medal.
Accumulating a total of 77.15 points across the six apparatuses, Yulo narrowly missed the gold, finishing just behind Colombia's Keynher Camilo Vera Carrascal, who claimed the top spot with 78.35 points. Mexico's Juan David Hernandez Andrade captured the bronze medal with a score of 75.75 points.
The budding gymnast's impressive showing in the all-around event set the stage for further success, as he advanced to the finals in all six apparatus categories.
Yulo showcased his artistry and precision, topping the floor exercise event, then continued his strong performance also securing gold on the vault. He also demonstrated his prowess on the parallel bars, pommel horse and still rings, earning him silver finishes in each of the disciplines.
With his impressive medal haul, Karl Eldrew has undoubtedly cemented his status as one of the rising stars in the world of gymnastics, following in the footsteps of his older brother, Carlos, who has achieved international acclaim as a world champion.
