Adamson University suffered a 3-0 defeat against Ateneo de Manila University in the UAAP 86 Men’s Football Tournament at the UP Diliman Football Stadium, April 21.
Despite the team’s efforts, Ateneo set the tone early in the game with Luard Abaa opening the scoring just 12 minutes into the match.
Midfielder Fernando Roxas extended Ateneo’s lead with a goal in the 26th minute, while Kofi Agyei, returning from suspension, sealed the victory for Ateneo with his eighth goal of the season in the 64th minute.
Adamson goalkeeper Andrew Nalog made a fine stop against Leo Maquiling's penalty in the 41st minute, but it proved to be not enough to halt their foes.
The defeat pushed Adamson to the bottom of the standings with three points and a minus-20 goal difference. disman
The San Marcelino crew faced further setbacks as Ruzzel Jose was dismissed in the 57th minute for abusive language. This means the graduating booter has played his final match for the blue and white as he will be suspended for Adamson’s last game of the season against University of Santo Tomas this April 25.
