Adamson reasserted their dominance of UAAP Softball, annexing their 11th straight title with a nerve-wracking come-from-behind 4-3 extended inning victory over University of the Philippines in the endgame of the three-match series of the #UAAPSeason86 Finals last April 17 at the latter’s home field in Diliman, Quezon City.

With no outs in the extra inning, the Lady Falcons showed their championship composure, capitalizing on a play at home plate that scored two title-clinching runs from Alaiza Pichon and Season 86 MVP Angelu Gabriel.

Adamson figured in another defensive matchup with UP, just like their 2-3 defeat in Game 1, with the scoring only starting at the fourth inning after the former gave consecutive walks to UP’s Joyce Rasco and UAAP 85 MVP Nickole dela Cruz followed by a double to the left-center field from pitcher KC Valino, which led both runners home.

With UP leading, 2-0, the Lady Falcons were forced to relieve star pitcher Glory Alonzo and bring in ASAPHIL-Cebuana Lhuillier National Softball Championship Best Pitcher and MVP April Mae Minanga, who was eventually hailed Finals MVP for limiting their foes to only a single run since she took the mound.

The San Marcelino crew then answered with their own two-run surge to level the score at the bottom of the sixth, with Remelie Herrero starting Adamson’s three-hit barrage with a booming hit to center field. Two more hits and both teams found themselves knotted again, 2-2.

A crucial running error by Alaiza Talisik then resulted in a double play, ending the bottom of the seventh inning and Adamson’s chance to close out the game in regulation.

UP was able to bring in one run in former RP batter Danica Aquino off a sacrifice fly, but Adamson’s offense in the final stretch just proved too much for the Diliman-based squad.

Minanga was also hailed Best Pitcher during the awarding ceremonies, while Gabriel also brought home the Best Hitter and Best Slugger awards.

Khrisha Cantor bagged the Most Home Runs award, while Roma Jane Cruz won the Most Runs-Batted-In plum.
