The Lady Falcons are, once again, marching to the Finals of the UAAP 86 Softball Tournament after securing a 4-1 victory over University of Santo Tomas this April 3 at the UP Diliman Baseball/Softball Field in Quezon City.
With the win, Adamson moves a step forward to a chance at extending their unprecedented championship streak to 11. They now wait for their finals foes as UST faces University of the Philippines in a playoff this April 6.
AdU’s head coach Ana Santiago, though, remained modest despite another feat for her wards.
"Hindi naman kami namimili ng kalaban kasi sinasabi ko sa mga bata na kaya namang lumaban basta kami lumaban kami ng honest na laro,” the decorated mentor and current national women’s softball team coach said.
“Handa lang kami kung sino man ang manalo sa UST o UP,” she furthered.
The Lady Falcons batted two hits against UST’s national team pitcher Rovelyn Palma in the second inning but could not capitalize on the bases.
Adamson began the scoring in the third inning, scoring two runs, and adding two more in the fourth, which erected a 4-0 gap midway of the match.
Roma Cruz led the girls in blue and white, tallying two hits on four at-bats, with her first hit being a triple that started the action in the second frame.
Senior Khrisha Cantor also contributed two hits, while Mary Jane Libaton drove in the other two runs in the third.
