Adamson’s volleyball teams battled hard in their respective UAAP 86 Volleyball Tournament divisions but ended falling short against University of Santo Tomas this April 3 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The Soaring Falcons failed to capitalize on a momentum shift in the third, falling 17-25, 19-25, 25-23, 23-25 in the men’s division, which pushed them to a 4-5 card.

The San Marcelino-based squad now sits at sixth place but remains to be in the hunt for a Final Four slot.

AdU fell behind early with a 2-0 set disadvantage but recovered just in time to extend the match behind crucial hits from Marc Paulino who also top-scored for his team with 16 points.

The George Pascua-mentored Falcons were leading midway through the fourth set, but costly errors gave UST an opportunity to trim the lead and eventually overtake them en route to the win.

Francis Casas also added 13 points for Adamson, while Jude Aguilar punched in 12. Lorence Canlas tallied 29 receptions and 14 digs.

The Lady Falcons, meanwhile, skidded to their fifth straight defeat as they hit a snag after a first set victory, dropping their match, 25-22, 20-25, 24-26, 20-25 in the women’s division.

Adamson was not able to stop the offensive onslaught unleashed by rookie phenom Angeline Poyos who poured in a career-high 31 points.

With five games left in the season, JP Yude's wards fell to a 2-7 card, and are tied at sixth place with University of the East.

Barbie Jamili led the Lady Falcons with 20 points and 13 receptions while Ishie Lalongisip and Ayesha Juegos tallied 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Both teams of Adamson spikers will seek to bounce back this April 9 against Far Eastern University at the SMART Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.
