Adamson University’s volleyball teams fell to University of Santo Tomas in two thrilling matches in the men’s and women’s divisions of the UAAP 86 Volleyball Tournament held last March 16 at the SMART Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.

The men’s team figured in an 18-25, 25-21, 19-25, 25-23, 10-15 thriller against the Golden Spikers led by reigning Most Valuable Player Josh Ybañez.

Adamson kept on phase with UST’s offense, banking on attacks from veteran spiker Francis Casas and team captain John Gay who tallied 15 and 14 points, respectively.

With the loss, the Soaring Falcons fell to sixth place with a 3-4 card.

Meanwhile, the Lady Falcons bowed to UST’s undefeated women’s team in a late-night volleyball affair, 18-25, 25-22, 15-25, 26-28.

Adamson faced the league leaders head-on, keeping up with Tigresses with excellent floor defense and a well-distributed offense, but eventually fell short as super rookie Angeline Poyos rotated to the front of the attacking sequence, closing out the match just past 10 in the evening.

Ishie Lalongisip bannered the San Marcelino-based squad’s offense with 14 points, while AA Adolfo and Lady Falcons skipper Lucille Almonte added 12 apiece.

The Lady Falcons now sit with a 2-5 slate.

Both teams try to begin the second round of competition as they face University of the East this March 23 at the same venue.
