The Soaring Falcons are still in search of their first victory in the UAAP 86 Men’s Football Tournament after falling prey to reigning champions, Far Eastern University, 3-0, under the floodlights of the UP Diliman Football Stadium in Quezon City, March 14.
Adamson tried to take advantage of the absence of some of the Tamaraws key players, Martini Rey, Sewlyn Mamon and RJ Pescadera, but were unable to put a ball into the net despite numerous goal attempts being on target.
An 86th minute shot by Nikko Aranas nearly gave a goal in favor of Adamson, however, his ball hit the left goal post, allowing the FEU defense to recover.
Scoring began early for FEU as Jermi Darapan put in a penalty strike in the 22nd minute, propelling FEU into a 1-0 lead. Adamson goalkeeper Andrew Nalog then blocked Darapan's subsequent spot kick to deny the Tamaraws another goal.
In the second half, Karl Absalon extended FEU's lead with a goal in the 65th minute, followed by another strike from Abdulnasser Mustapa in stoppage time.
AdU seeks to register their first dub in the tournament as they face the home team, UP Fighting Maroons this March 17.
