Adamson University's naval reserve troops showed grit and skill as they flaunted their military tactics during their annual review and capability demonstration held at the Saint Vincent grounds, March 14.

Capt. Geralline M. Pasia PN (MNSA), Chief of Staff of the Naval Reserve Command, served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker for the event featuring the AdU reserve corps’ annual Parade and Review rites. LCDR. Reimon Retaga, PN, commandant of the 246th Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC), introduced Capt. Pacia as the occasion's guest speaker.

In his address, Capt. Pasia reiterated the role that ROTC plays in student development and the changes that happened from the initial program to that currently being implemented today. He also discussed the state of nationalism and patriotism at present and how both influences the youth amid the politicking that has existed in the country.

University President Fr. Daniel Franklin Pilario, CM, meanwhile, expressed gratitude to Capt. Pasia and the attending military officers for their presence at the ceremonies, and their continued support with the 246th NROTC and the University’s endeavors.

“Here, they learn the [importance] of citizenship and the value of discipline in their growing years as they become responsible leaders above their years... They are also trained in the value of integrity, service and teamwork as well as professional ethics in their personal lives and their own dealings and endeavors” he said.

“May this series of collaborations be a sign of our communal of God and country,” the 7th AdU president furthered.

The Presentation of Sponsors along with this year’s cadet officers was also showcased. A Capability Demonstration was also staged by the 72nd Marine Battalion Reserve.

This year’s demonstration executed by the Adamson’s NROTCU graduates and marine reservists highlighted safety and security rescue operations, medical capabilities, and disaster response, namely on earthquake situations including assessment and response for rescues in totaled cars and buildings, as well as resulting cases of fire and other hazards.

The Philippine Marine Corps Drum and Bugle also delivered a performance followed by a showcase from the Silent Drill Platoon and Martial Arts program of the Navy.

The program also featured the passing in review of the 246th NROTCU Unit.
