A night of gratitude and inspiration unfolded as Alberto Saldajeno Jr.’s "Teatro Kabataan: Pasyon, Paghilom, Pagbangon," took center stage for the Adamsonian Community last March 13 at the University Theater.
The production, in partnership with the Arnold Janssen (AJ) Kalinga Foundation, enthralled the audiences with its poignant portrayal of Filipino resilience and hope.
The presence of University President Fr. Daniel Franklin Pilario, C.M. and AJ Kalinga Foundation Founder Fr. Flavie Villanueva, SVD, both known for their advocacies in social justice, added significance to the occasion, underscoring the importance of art in fostering social awareness and dialogue.
Among the distinguished attendees were representatives from the Embassy of Switzerland, Ambassador Nicolas Bruhl, along with Lisa Brucker and Diana Pearl. Also present was European Union Embassy First Secretary Mr. Frederick Grillet, representing Ambassador Luc Veron, and Ms. Signe Poulsen of the United Office of the High Commission on Human Rights, among others.
An engaging talkback session was also facilitated by AJ Kalinga Foundation Managing Director Ms. Tessam Castillo and moderated by AdU faculty member Mr. John Joshua Mayuga.
The said activity served as a platform for students to share profound reflections and insights. Their active participation highlighted the transformative power of dialogue in driving social change.
As the curtains closed on the event, it reminded the audience of the value of social awareness and the transformative power of art in shaping the nation. By embracing both, it is believed that positive change can be inspired, leading to a more equitable and compassionate society.
