Adamson tennisters barge into win column after tight win over La Salle

The University’s tennis team bagged their maiden victory of their UAAP 86 Men’s Tennis campaign, scoring a 3-2 escape from De La Salle University, March 9, at the Felicisimo Ampon Tennis Center of the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Malate, Manila.
The match showcased an intense display of skill and determination, with both teams going back and forth, however, it was the San Marcelino squad that ultimately emerged victorious, securing their spot in the win column after a series of tightly contested matches.
In the first singles encounter, Miecos Candalesa of Adamson set the tone for his team's success by defeating Nonoy Po with a 6-4, 6-2 scoreline, displaying impressive composure and technique on the court.
The momentum continued to swing in Adamson's favor as the duo of Reymoses Amba and Tristan Correos demonstrated their teamwork in the first doubles match, clinching a crucial victory over Leyton Portin and RJ Virrey with a score of 7-5, 6-4.
La Salle, however, tried to turn the tide into their favor, bagging the next two matches.,
EJ Gelluz claimed the W over Ramon Bentillo in the second singles match, 6-3, 6-3, narrowing the gap and keeping the Green Archers in contention.
The tension mounted as the second doubles match unfolded, with Lawrence Sombreo and Jerald delos Santos of Adamson facing off against Brysl Libao and Enzo Enriquez of La Salle.
The pair from Taft Avenue emerged victorious with a scoreline of 6-4, 6-1, leveling the head-to-head score at 2-2.
With the fate of the match hanging in the balance, it all came down to the third singles encounter where Nikko Lumahang of Adamson showcased nerves of steel as he outplayed Ohye Toral, securing the decisive dub, 7-5, 6-1, and propelling Adamson to a well-deserved triumph.
