The University’s baseball team faced a tough defeat against De La Salle University in a closely contested match, 5-6, in the UAAP 86 Baseball Tournament held March 7 at the UP Diliman Baseball/Softball Field in Quezon City.

The game unfolded as a rollercoaster ride for the Soaring Falcons, who displayed grit and determination throughout the encounter. Despite their efforts, the San Marcelino-based batters kept up with the defending champions, but ultimately succumbed to La Salle's late-game surge.

Last season’s bronze medalists snatched back the lead from the Green Batters, 5-4, but were unable to hold-off crucial scoring opportunities from their foes.

A solid outing for AdU starting pitcher Kenneth Delos Santo was spoiled by critical errors in the crucial stages of the match, which allowed La Salle to capitalize. The team's defensive lapses proved costly, denying them a chance to secure a much-needed victory, sending them to a 1-3 card to begin the season.

The Falcons now regroup and prepare to bag a bounce back win to close out the first round of competition as they face-off against Ateneo de Manila University this March 10 at the same venue.
