A big performance from the debuting Barbie Jamili lifted the Lady Falcons as they return to the win column of the UAAP 86 Women’s Volleyball Tournament after a cardiac four-set victory over University of the East, 25-19, 25-19, 26-28, 29-27, March 3, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Jamili proved to be a game-changer for Adamson despite not being fielded in the team's first three matches, making an immediate impact with 20 points built on 18 attacks and two blocks. Her stellar performance was also coupled with 12 digs and six excellent receptions.

Timely plays from middle blockers May Ann Nuique and Jen Villegas in the extended fourth set also proved crucial for the San Marcelino-based crew as the team controlled the net led by the two up in front.

The win propelled Adamson to a 2-2 record and to solo fifth place in the league standings.

UE tried to push the match to a deciding frame as they capitalized on a costly rotational fault by Adamson to reach set point in the fourth set. The attack by rookie Kayce Balingit, though, went wide, which pushed the score to another deuce at 26.

Nuique then punched a running spike off the block, followed by a service ace from Villegas to cap the victory from the Lady Falcons.

AA Adolfo also contributed 16 points for Adamson, while rookie Red Bascon showcased the spiking prowess, she initially showed with the Baby Lady Falcons, posting 13 points as a starter for AdU first-year head tactician JP Yude.

Karen Verdeflor, meanwhile, remained a defensive anchor for Adamson, tallying 16 excellent receptions and 15 digs.

The Lady Falcons now set their sights on building their first winning streak as they prepare to take on Far Eastern University this March 9 at the same venue.
