Adamson’s Softball Team kicked off their quest for an unprecedented 11th consecutive title with a commanding 3-0 victory over University of Santo Tomas in the UAAP 86 Softball Tournament at the University of the Philippines Baseball/Softball Field in Diliman, Quezon City.
The Lady Falcons showcased the defensive prowess they have been known for and capitalized on offensive opportunities to secure the win.
The reigning queens of UAAP softball scored two runs off three hits and two passed balls from UST's pitcher Royevel Palma in the third inning as catcher Aliza Pitchon, shortstop Angelu Gabriel, and second baseman MJ Maguad converted turned in crucial hits, with Palma's errors aiding their advance.
Second-year pitcher April Minanga, meanwhile, proved her mettle after getting the starting nod over last season’s Best Pitcher, Glory Alonzo. Minanga, however, also has her own sets of accolades, the latest being MVP and Best Pitcher of the ASAPHIL-Cebuana Lhuillier National Softball Championship held from November 20 to 26.
Minanga limited UST's offense to four hits the whole the game, earning her praise from her multi-titled coach, Ana Santiago, who also highlighted the team's collective defensive effort beyond pitching and emphasized the importance of teamwork in securing victories.

Another run scored in the fourth inning eventually sealed the deal of the San Marcelino-based softbelles as they blanked their foes from Espana in the succeeding frames with Manangan pitching with no relief.
UST then failed to overcome Adamson's defensive prowess despite numerous hits bannered by a triple by second baseman Lyca Blanco, which went for naught as succeeding batters hit flyouts that led the Lady Falcons to close out the match.
Adamson will next face De La Salle University on March 2 at the same venue.
