Adamson’s volleyball teams had tough starts to their UAAP 86 Collegiate Volleyball Tournaments campaign, suffering defeats against De La Salle University this February 17, at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Both teams’ Round 1 first matches ended in 0-3 scorelines despite the exchanges being competitive and the Falcons showing flashes of brilliance in specific stretches.

The Lady Falcons, who entered the tournament with aspirations of replicating their bronze medal finish in Season 85, found themselves unable to match the offensive onslaught from La Salle led by last year’s rookie-MVP Angel Canino, 16-25, 16-25, and 18-25.

Despite the valiant efforts of team captain Lucille Almonte and Ishie Lalongisip, who each contributed six points, Adamson's women's team struggled to contain the offensive prowess.

The match concluded with a service error from Lady Falcon Shar Ancheta, sealing the victory for the Taft-based squad.

On the men's side, the Soaring Falcons showcased resilience and determination throughout the contest but ultimately fell short against a La Salle squad led by Noel Kampton and JM Ronquillo.

The match concluded with a hard-fought battle in all three sets, with La Salle emerging victorious with scores of 22-25, 23-25, and 24-26.

Promising rookie Joel Menor, meanwhile, led Adamson, tallying 11 attacks and a block, while Mark Paulino, delivered 11 points.

Both teams aim to bounce back for their first victory as they prepare to face University of the Philippines this February 24 at the same venue. Reports from Almira Coleen Montero
