Adamson students and employees flocked to the ST Quadrangle for the community-wide celebration of the Holy Eucharist to commemorate the beginning of the Lenten Season, February 14.
Campus Ministry Director Fr. Nelson Bisco, CM, along with University President Fr. Daniel Franklin Pilario, CM, led the congregation in reflection and prayer, urging them to contemplate the virtues of winning, losing, and giving in the spirit of the Lenten season.
"In our lives, it is not good that we always win. Sometimes, we also must experience losing and giving because in losing, we learn lots of lessons, mostly giving, and when we give, we share hope, happiness, and love with people," Fr. Bisco emphasized, drawing inspiration from recent victories in sports, citing Adamson's Boys' Basketball and Girls' Volleyball championship triumphs after long title droughts.
Fr. Bisco further highlighted the importance of mastering the art of winning, losing, and giving, particularly during the Lenten season. He underscored the significance of sacrifices as a means of solidarity with those who have less and as a pathway to personal growth and spiritual renewal.
Now mentioning his experiences communicating with street dwellers, Fr. Bisco urged the community to reflect on their willingness to make sacrifices for the betterment of others.
"If we are very much willing to offer ourselves - time, talent, and treasure - we can actually help people, especially those who are at a disadvantage -- those who are really asking for our help," he said.
"Ang mga tao pong 'yun, nagtataya. Tayo po, handa po ba tayong magtaya? Hopefully, charity will be part of our DNA because the best expression of love is sacrifices and only through sacrifices that we follow God and His ways in our lives," he concluded.
The said occasion also coincided with the celebration of Valentine's Day and the week-long celebration of the University’s founding anniversary.
