OUR brings international cuisine, culture to Adamson with Taste of the World

As Adamson University commemorates its 92nd foundation anniversary, the Office for University Relations’ (OUR) hosted the annual Taste of the World event held February 13 at the ST Quadrangle.
OUR, led by its director, Sr. Maruja Padre Juan, MSCS, paraded different cultures and gastronomic treats, showcasing diversity and unity within the Adamson Community.
With the theme "Global Tastes, Local Vibes: Uniting the Adamsonian Community in an International Culinary Adventure," the occasion aimed to foster cross-cultural understanding and appreciation among students, employees and guests.
“As you can see, [international] students are trying their best to cook the cuisines from their own countries. This is our way of saying that all cultures and people are welcome in Adamson University,” University President Fr. Daniel Franklin Pilario said to open the festivities.
Adding an international flair to the festivities, the event featured embassies from various countries including the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Republic of India, Republic of Indonesia, Republic of Iran, and Republic of Nigeria.
Ambassadors present were H.E. Ambassador F.M. Borhan Uddin of Bangladesh, H.E. Ambassador Agus Widjojo of Indonesia and H.E. Ambassador Yousef Esmaeilzadeh of Iran.
Booths adorned with cultural displays and artifacts, meanwhile, offered glimpses into the traditions of different nations.
Students from China, Eritrea, Papua New Guinea, Nigeria, the Middle East, East Timor, India, and Chad offered the community cuisines from their countries, as well as presentations of various traditional performances.
As part of the anniversary celebration, a series of competitions also took place, allowing These competitions celebrated unity amid diversity in the community and promoted camaraderie and respect among individuals of diverse backgrounds.
The cultural event served as a fitting tribute to Adamson University's commitment to excellence and inclusivity, a nod to fostering a sense of belongingness, just like how the community has practiced the klasmeyt culture.
