As everyone cheered for the Lady Falcons during their game against pro team Akari Superchargers, one of them revealed a gut-wrenching news about her UAAP career.
Middle blocker Lorene Toring, who committed to play for Adamson in her last playing year, revealed in a social media post, in the evening of February 7, that her stint in the league has reached a sudden end after she sustained a severe tear in her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
Expressing a mix of emotions, Toring bid farewell to the Lady Falcons and the Adamson community, reflecting on the journey that led her to such a stage in her volleyball career.
"As I prepare to embark on the next chapter of my journey, as I sit down to write this farewell message, I am filled with different emotions. While it pains me to say goodbye to the team that has been such a significant part of my life, I am also filled with gratitude for the journey that has led me to this moment," Toring expressed.
Toring's contributions to the team's success over the past four seasons have been immense. Her on-court prowess and leadership have served as pillars of strength for the Lady Falcons, propelling them to remarkable achievements, including numerous stints in the UAAP volleyball Final Four, punctuated by a bronze medal finish in Season 85.
Toring also represented the University as she played for the Philippine Team in the 22nd Asian Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship to be held in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand from August 30 to September 6, 2023.
Acknowledging the unforeseen turn of events, the Marketing Management alum remained steadfast in the face of adversity, saying that though the injury has sidelined her indefinitely, she now shifts her focus towards recovery and resilience.
“Though this setback may seem like an overwhelming obstacle, I choose to see it as an opportunity for growth. I am filled with a sense of peace, knowing that everything happens for a reason. Though the road ahead may be uncertain, I am confident that it will ultimately lead me to where I am meant to be,” she wrote.
Toring also expressed gratitude to her coaches, teammates, and supporters for their unwavering support and encouragement throughout her journey.
“As I bid goodbye, I carry with me a lifetime of memories and lessons that I will cherish forever. I am proud to say that I AM A VINCENTIAN STUDENT-ATHLETE!”
