BOI, AdUTX gear up with Talk-N-Tech 2024

The Adamson Technology Transfer Office (AdUTX) and ADUNEST, Inc., both under the Innovation and Technology Support Office, collaborated with the Board of Investments successfully hosted the third installment of its networking event, Talk N Tech 2024, February 1, at the Co Po Ty Audio Visual Hall, Dr. Carlos Tiu Center for Technology Innovation and Research.
The session began with a series of welcome remarks from esteemed personalities, including AdU's VP for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Venusmar Quevedo, VP for Academic Affairs, Dr. Rosula Reyes, and Mr. Dino John Recto, Acting Chief of the Research and Policy Division at the Board of Investments. Their opening statements set the tone for an event focused on fostering innovation, collaboration, and the exchange of groundbreaking ideas.
Fr. Daniel Franklin E. Pilario, CM, the President of Adamson University, also delivered a compelling message emphasizing the importance of pushing boundaries and embracing technological advancements in today's dynamic landscape and its applicability to the public.
Citing a statement from AdU founder, Dr. George Lucas Adamson, Fr. Pilario highlighted the roles that industry and people must assume within the system of technology and innovation.
“If social justice means equality of opportunities, and the humanization of social forces for economic security, and well-being of the people especially that of the masses, then we must, with proper emphasis the principle that industry exists for man, and not man for the sake of the industries, he said echoing the words of the first AdU president.
“Going back to what Jesus said in the Bible about Sabbath, but I would like to rephrase it, industry is for the people, not people for industry; science is made for the person, not the person for science."
Startup QC Student Competition was also introduced during the event, where representatives encouraged students to unleash their creativity and innovative ideas.
The said competition aims to provide funding for early-stage startups that have promising and viable products or services ready for execution and for aspiring technopreneurs to showcase their projects and potentially transform them into viable startup ventures.
A reverse pitching activity also added another layer of engagement as it featured established and startup companies such as SIBAT INC, Toyota Motors Philippines, EdFolio, and Citrus Alley.
Student-attendees were given insights into the challenges faced by participating companies. They were then given opportunities to suggest their innovative solutions to the challenges presented by the featured firms.
Each organization was given a chance to select the most promising pitches, paving the way for potential collaborations and future projects. Other pitches were also sent to the respective companies for consideration.
Engr. Noe Enriquez, in his closing remarks, emphasized the importance of continuous engagement in innovation endeavors. He encouraged participants to maintain the momentum gained from Talk N Tech 2024, fostering an ongoing commitment to technological advancement and collaborative innovation.
