The Baby Falcons experienced their first setback in the UAAP Season 86 boys' basketball tournament after a surprise 64-67 loss to the UST Tiger Cubs, January 7 at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
Adamson was up by 17 at the end of the first half, but a 7-20 run in the third frame shifted the momentum in favor of the Espana-based team.
UST was up 62-65 when Koji Buenaflor sank a floater to push their lead to five with 25 seconds left in the game, and virtually sealed it for his team. Adamson was outscored 36-17 in the second half.
Coach Mike Fermin’s lead point guard, Justine Garcia, only played just 18 minutes after exiting the game late in the third quarter due to a left ankle injury.
Vince Reyes carried the load for Adamson, recording 19 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists, while Garcia contributed 13 points.
Adamson will try to bounce back as they face University of the East this January 10 at the same venue.
